Is China Over Testing Its High School Children?

Though it seems that the competitive environment that Chinese children are living in is making them more driven and smarter, it only accounts for a relatively small percentage who sit at the top. On the other hand the overly supportive western system offers its students lots of praise no matter how well they are doing might be creating a generation of passive students without independence or drive. The solution to how we teach and raise our children should then lie somewhere in between these two extremes.
